MAMIFUS

1NT is supposed to be 12-14 HCP but it may be adapted easily to any other range.

It allows any 4333, 4432, 5M332 5M4m22, 4M5m22, 4441 and 6m322. It does not permit hands with 9 cards in both majors. Those must be opened with the longest major.

Normal responses are 2 Stayman, 2 and 2 transfer to majors OR A 2-SUITED HAND (to be incorporated here later).

2 and 2NT are transfers to the minors. Intermediate suit super accepts the  minor, in order the strong hand play the dummy and receives the lead.

Responder bids of 3 and 3 are 3-suited hands usually 1=4=4=4 or 4=1=4=4 might be 0=4=(45m) or 4=0=(45m) short in the other major GF.

After 2 a new relay by responder of 3 is GF for the opener.

When 1NT opener has shown 2-suits, subsequent bids at the 4 level are RKCB-1430 for the lower, higher and both (6-KeyCards) respectively. If no space available for 3 RKC asks, RKCSG and Quantitative are discarded.

When there is a surplus of space 4NT is quantitative.

When opener has shown a 4441 hand, 4NT is RKCSG and the minor suit bids are intended for CAB (where responses by 1NT opener are 0-3,4,5,6) 1NT Opener can’t have more than 6 controls (AAKK or AAA).

A new CAB asking in the same suit is Queen’s asking 0,1,2,3, except when partner has shown 6 controls.

1. 1NT 2 ASKS MAJOR or INVITATIONAL with/without 4M

2. 2 denies 4M then 3 asks more explanation and 3 offers a 5-6 minor suit NF.

3. 2 with 4-5 spade cards then 3 is a distributional GF relay

4. 2 with 4 then 3 asks for second 4-card suit

5. 2N with 5 then 3 is a distributional relay

6. Permits to describe all 4441 hands when 1NT openings permits this shape (UPH = Un Passed Hand)

7. Direct inverted splinter with 1444 and 4144 (just when facing pard UnPassedHand), then 3 is CAB and 4 is CAB. When facing Passed Hand, 1NT opener has to bid his major suit.

1N            2  Stayman or Invitational
3 1=4=4=4
3 4=1=4=4

8. Direct answer of 3 by 1NT opener, here 3 is relay for residue.

9. Only cases where we surpass 3NT is with 54m, 45 and 45

10. You may make 3 Relay bids when 4-cards are found. 2 or 3 relays when 4-cards are found.

11. When 3 is first answer to Stayman 4 4 4 should be EKB:

1N            2 Stayman or Invitational
3 6         4 RKCB()
              4 EKB (Responses to EKB are 1-4,0-3,2,2+Q)
              4 EKB (Responses to EKB are 1-4,0-3,2,2+Q)
              4 EKB (Responses to EKB are 1-4,0-3,2,2+Q)

12. 4NT is RKCSG (Roman Key Card Super Gerber) if no suit has been agreed

13. When 1NT opener has shown 2-suits and 4NT is free then it is Quantitative. Example:

1N            2 Stayman or Invitational
2 4         3 Ask more info
3 4+        3 Ask shape
3 2-4-5-2    4 RKCB()
              4 RKCB()
              4 RKCB(6-keycards)
              4NT QUANTITATIVE

14. If 1NT opener has shown 3-cards in a major 4M is to play:

1N            2 Stayman or Invitational
3            3 Ask more info
3            4 RKCB()
              4 RKCB()
              4 IS TO PLAY
              4 RKCB(6-keycards)
              4NT QUANTITATIVE
